Why? We disproportionately take christians from those countries, those rates weren't muslim exclusive.

I think your description of Trump's idea is much more conservative than what he's actually said. He proposes (or at least has proposed, we know he's liable to backtrack) a categorical ban on all Muslims from ANY country, as well as a categorical ban on ANYONE, Muslim or not, from any location with a history of terrorism. This is many many times more expansive than just banning Muslims from terrorist countries.
His proposition is whatever he woke up with this morning and changed it to. At last iteration, it was banning muslims "only from terrorist countries". Which basically means taking a few less syrian refugees while the EU absorbs all of it anyway
