I'm not saying they're in a worse spot right now than most of the rest of Europe, but they're not really better off either. They're in the same spot as the rest of us, but paid a higher price in terms of human lives to get there.
The whole logic of the Swedish approach was "yes, we're putting up with a higher up front death toll, but then we'll enjoy (full or at least partial) herd immunity and get across the winter with a lower death toll and/or while shutting down less than the other countries". This argument turned out to be wrong, plain and simple.

That's a misleading statistic though; the vast majority of Swedes live in big(ger) cities where the pop density is far higher. Their capital Stockholm (a lovely city btw!), which accounts for over a quarter of the country's population, has a pop density of over 10k per square mile.
