I am (i guess i have to remind you) against israeli aid. i'd slash it so much rand paul would get a stiffy. but its not going to happen in any meaningful way. BUT, and this is the part you're skipping conveniently over, it it did it wouldnt make the large scale changes to israeli actions that many people think.
cutting israel's budget monetarily by 3% wont do much of anything in the context of gazan lives. and we will not remove our military alliance with israel regardless of changes to aid $. AND if we did it would end in disaster, perhaps the end of human life on earth.
That's really the crux. The carrier group the US sent to the Mediterranean immediately after the Oct 7 attack was the key support from the US for Israel, not a billion in aid here or there. The carriers signaled to Iran, Hezbollah, potentially also to Turkey and Egypt, that they shouldn't even think of escalating this conflict into a full-blown war on Israel.
Additionally, the rulers in the Gulf states and Egypt don't actually have any interest in creating a revolutionary or jihadist momentum across the Middle East. Could backfire on themselves far too easily.
