All three police officers accompanying Chauvin were found guilty on all counts in the 'depriving civil rights' trial. This included officer Tou Thao who was on the other side of the vehicle doing crowd control and in no position to see or be aware or Floyd's condition. Basically, convicted of guilt by association

Third world county if you live in the you-know-what areas.

You've really never heard of guilty by association before?

Bless your heart.

There would be no riots because the guy who murdered a guy on video was convicted because we said murder is still illegal and the law applies to the police.

Too bad you have to have it literally video taped and you still have apologists trying to let public lynchings fly.

How many provably innocent cops need to be locked up for doing nothing wrong in the name of sating a violent mob before we get to compare it to lynching?

Another update on the kind of crime and journalism situation in Minnesota
Two days ago, a psychopath with a machete went on a rampage attacking people at random in St Paul. Several people were injured, one seriously with defensive wounds to his hand that caused an arterial bleed.
One couple posted about how he chased them into a building and around the building trying to murder them until they managed to duck into a locked stairwell and barricade themselves in.

Naturally, once arrested we find out Daniel Kurt Vernier had prior charges and convictions of;

Quote
  • Theft of motor vehicle and fleeing police
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • 1st degree aggravated robbery x2, 2nd degree assault x2, possession of firearm
  • Domestic assault
  • 1st degree burglary x2
  • Criminal vehicular injury - great bodily harm, traffic incident causing injury/death, DWI x2, driving after revocation
  • Obstructing legal process
  • Attempted vehicular operation
  • Domestic Assault, inflicting bodily harm, theft of motor vehicle, driving after revocation - Felony
  • Domestic abuse, violating protection order, contempt of court willful disobeying mandate
  • Felon firearm violation, attempted tehft of motor vehicle, failure to render aid to shooting victim, contempt of court, possession of pistol, assault in 1st degree great bodily harm, use of deadly force against police officer (ELEVEN of these) - felony
  • Violate no contact order - felony
  • Violate no contact order - felony
  • 5th degree drugs - felony
  • domestic abuse - felony
  • stalking 3rd violation, stalking, domestic abuse x4 - felony

Just two weeks ago he was arrested on a felony warrant for failure to appear at his 3rd failure to appear for an assault case.
He was brought to court by the police, where the judge gave him zero bail despite his violate felony history and failures to appear.
Let me repeat that: He ignores his court dates 3 times and has a violent history, the police manage to find and arrest him and bring him to a judge, who promptly releases him without bail.
He then goes out and tries to murder random people with a machete

/e And I almost forgot the journalism angle: not a single Minnesota media outlet is covering this. No mention by the star tribune, pioneer press, wcco, kare, etc etc
Someone can run around chopping up random people with a machete in the middle of downtown and it doesn't get a single line in the paper

I obviously can't comment on the legal dimension, but from a moral point of view, guilt by association is justified for organized or preplanned crimes, like the infamous driver in a bank robbery who's waiting outside with the engine running.

There is a difference between being aware that a crime is being carried out and actually being a part of a crime. What you are describing is being the getaway driver, that is actively being a part of a crime. However if someone is merely in the vicinity of a crime and assuming that he is not complicit, then he shouldn't be deemed guilty. Guilt by association is not a good way to go about ensuring justice is served.
