America has some of the misfortune imo of most of it not having any need to learn another language. Unless you live in an area like a major city, in southern Tx or Fla, or you have a family that speaks multiple languages there really isnt a need to at all. Maybe if you work in certain industries but even then its more learning basic words and phrases

I grew up having to learn a few different languages, but for the most part in the USA growing up its just learn American English lol

it's nurture though, not nature - and english is king anyway, so if you only spoke one language, it should be that. in the western world that is ofc.

What's funny is none of these talking points are new. Ultra conservative Catholics for years, all around the world, have talked about Jews/Communists taking societies over and outlawing freedoms. "Global elite" is a euphemism.

The bulk of the right-wing have become nutters. That's undeniable, and there's nothing to be done about it. It's part of the culture of the right. My fear is that the other side of American politics might do the same.... and then Americans are just picking between the least crazy every 4 years.
