So at the last minute, Mayor Frey is trying to abort Trump's rally in Minneapolis scheduled for Thursday at Target Center. Just yesterday they broke the venues contract and are now demanding an upfront payment of $500,000+ for costs of police presence. No campaign can be legally charged for police costs nor has target center
ever charged the costs of police, and even their staff trying to argue for it could only say that they've "been in conversations with sports teams about cost sharing" and "want to be more proactive about it in the future". IE, not once. Because legally, the costs of policing fall to the city and can't be billed, they are a public service not a privatized libertarian dystopian PD from that copypasta. Thats why Democratic mayors love to scream about Trump's "unpaid bills" but its pure bullshit.
So with just ~60 hours to go, they're going to court for breach of contract unless Frey backs down. This all comes a week after they changed the rules to ban cops from wearing uniforms at political events, which they've always been allowed to do and worn for previous presidential campaign visits
