I don't think it's helpful to argue what entity that land really belongs to. I look at it from the perspective of the people who have been living there for generations. To those people, this is where they were born and grew up. Where their fathers and mothers were born and grew up, and so on.

Strictly speaking, America is not Americans' ancestral land, either. But Americans who have been here for generations would never give up America. It's the same principle.
