It's really tough for me to make something out of those crowds. Sure, it proves that Trump's base is still riled up and firmly behind him. But it doesnt tell us all that much about how the reluctant GOP/Trump voters feel this time around.
And the lack of big Biden rallies doesnt have to mean much in the context of the pandemic. Particularly since ostentatious social distancing and shying away from mass events has become a virtue signalling technique for liberals.
In 2016, Clinton's lukewarm rallies were a worrying sign that was hard to overlook. In 2020, it's impossible to know the relevance of Biden's pitiful rallies. Another x-factor is the question if enthusiasm for voting Trump out can really replace positive enthusiasm for the Democratic candidate. Nobody can deny that people dont really feel enthusiastic about Biden, but it might just not matter this time around.
I know what you mean about the COVID thing, however, I feel like they still could organize some events with social distancing? Like how Trump has had massive groups on the roadside for when his/other members of the Trump's family vehicles drove by
The massive Trump vehicle caravans organized by Trump Supporters, and Trump Boat Caravans.
Biden could have something like that but it just doesn't happen. I really do believe the enthusiasm gap goes goes past COVID.
I think positive enthusiasm is going to outweigh negative enthusiasm when it comes to possibly having to wait hours in polls in certain locations. Which, if they're deathly afraid of COVID, they might say it just isn't worth it. As well as just simply taking the time to understand and fill out an absentee ballot, which I've heard the instructions are a little but confusing.
My personal opinion of course.
I know in the past if I never cared about the candidates running, I just didn't vote.
I really do believe there are more Trump Supporters than in 2016. It's hard for me to imagine many 2016 Trump voters voting the other way now. I actually believe the base has grown - with even more Democrat voters and others jumping onboard.
I'm predicting record Latino and Black votes for Trump (in terms of Republican candidates)as well.
We shall see Tuesday!
