The Biden administration reportedly spoke to journalists and producers from major news outlets during the last week to influence reporting on the nation’s economic woes in the Biden administration’s favor.

CNN Chief Media Correspondent Oliver Darcy said Monday in “Reliable Sources” that a source told him that the Biden White House “has been working behind the scenes” to “reshape coverage” on the economy “in its favor,” according to a transcript of the show’s December 6 episode.

Throughout the past week, senior White House and Biden administration officials reportedly held briefings “discussing with newsrooms trends pertaining to job creation, economic growth, supply chains, and more.”

Administration officials have suggested that the U.S. will press Ukraine to formally cede a measure of autonomy to eastern Ukrainian lands now controlled by Russia-backed separatists
[...]
Ukraine may be asked “can you make some step forward on these areas,” said Steven Pifer, a former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine. That could include measures such as allowing the Russia-allied Donbas region to control its own health care, police and schools, he said.

“But I don’t see Washington pushing the Ukrainians to take steps that would compromise their sovereignty or the ability of the national government when it came to making decisions,” Pifer said

Biden telling Ukraine to effectively cede Donbass for peace with Russia.

Interesting approach, particularly coming from the guy who promised to get tougher on Russia and accused Trump of being Putin's puppet for the better part of 4 years.

I followed the war in Ukraine when it started in 2014.

First of all, Russia will never "cede Donbass", and secondly, the people that live there will not accept being ruled by the openly fascist regime in Kiev either, a regime that was CIA-installed by the Obama admin. They would rather fight to the death than be oppressed, and if Ukraine attacks them, Russian missiles will rain down on any attackers.

Third, the US will not go to war over Ukraine, especially a nuclear one.

So what is this all about? I'm not too sure. Sabre rattling from an incompetent and delusional washington DC, I guess.

Isn't that what the Europeans wanted? I suppose it would be similar to South Ossetia in Georgia. Does that strengthen Ukraine from a pragmatic POV because they don't have to spend military/civil resources there?

Ukraine would be stronger if they ceded it in its entirety, but that's unlikely. It's probably better for Russia that it leaves the situation in limbo, because that gives their agents free access into the rest of the Ukraine.

Ukraine is entirely a puppet state that does the bidding of the people that installed the regime there.

Basically, it's ran entirely from the US embassy in Kiev.

There is nothing to strengthen because Ukraine's sole purpose is to make trouble for Russia on their borders, at the CIA's discretion. The US turned Ukraine into little more than cannon fodder for their own personal interests.
