They are properly reporting their numbers, it's still not dozens of thousands deaths, and the main point: they stopped most of the activity to curb deaths.
The ones who are working hard to get fucked are US and their shit-clown Prez, BTW it's funny to notice Italy has 60 millions people which is less than the amount of badly + uninsured ones in US.

What I cannot understand at all is the polarised nature of responses from different countries on how to deal with the virus.

China locked down areas of the country and spent so many resources on containing the virus and defeating it, as well as other countries like Italy, Austria and Ireland that have been putting areas on lockdown following China's example. Whereas countries like the UK and Germany are saying there is no point doing anything and it's going to infect half the population. Surely China is proof that the virus can be contained, and we're just not willing to do what it takes?

Neither Austria nor Ireland are on a proper lockdown (yet?)...

The only place outside of China that has used real lockdowns is Italy, and they were also hesitating a long time to call this measure.

They're wishing it away. Meaning, they're retarded.

You can see what happens when it goes wild like in Italy. Milan and the surroundings are having hundreds and hundreds of deaths as well as thousand of critical patients and there's clips of a doctor admitting that they're too many cases coming in at the same time that they're choosing which patients to save or not.

Depending on the habits of the population, certain countries are hella at risk.



Italy should've called it sooner, the biggest region touched has hospitals who can't even serve all the patients coming in.

Seems like most EU countries fear for their economy more than they fear the virus which says something about the fragile economic situation of the union. Will be interesting to see if the northern members are prepared to bail out southern members like italy and spain once again

I feel like it's somewhat inevitable "most of the world" is going to get it eventually at one point or another. It's just a matter of time really.

The goal is to slow spread over longer period of time as much as possible as to not overwhelm the healthcare infrastructure of a country all at a single point in time. This to avoid collapse and just further make it worse. Health care resources are limited and are reusable but capacity limits exist for any given time.

That way health care professionals have the "brand-width" to care for those who need most like elderly and those with weakened immunity systems.


I'm not really concerned as a younger/healthy individual but I'm in favor of "harsher" measures to at least slow down the spread over a longer period of time and make the resources readily available for the higher risk patients.
