In many states, it's quite easy to register to vote. You can register in MN the day you vote, with nothing more than a neighbor standing by to vouch for you (and up to 14 more people). My best friend was an election poll watcher for the GOP, and called the GOP's lawyers when a van full of people being serial-vouched showed up to vote. They told him they know all about it, and there's nothing they can do.
I'll have to look into that. But that seems more pressing to me than having to bring voter ID to polls. I've voted in most elections since 2008 and I've never shown my ID.
