Those excess foods are cheaper than healthier alternatives.

It's cheaper to buy a $5 2,000 calorie burrito at Chipotle than it is to buy $5 in fresh vegetables and proteins.

Doesn't Wraps live on the floor of a small studio?

heard the name but don't really know this wraps fellow, i don't frequent gc

Scientific proof that diets even work?

no, just to see if healthy eating is feasible for those with financial constraints

Excuses should only be available to those that can afford them.

No it's faster / more convenient.
I spend 40$ a work week on lunches. Compared to 50$ id spend at Mac Donald's or even subway.

Not buying excess food is literally the basis of not being fat. Something poor people should be able to accomplish relatively easy, given the lack of funds.

Actually poor people don't tend to buy in excess. Poor people are more likely to buy as they go. They're more likely to buy a single roll of paper towels, rather than a 16-pack, etc. The same obviously applies to food.

Yeah. Its called stuffing their faces with garbage. Go to the grocery store sometime. Look around when you shop. Atleast 80% of the shit on the shelves belongs in a trash can. Most of said garbage has addictive effects on the brain.

I'd say i and a lot of other normal-sized people stuff their faces with a lot of garbage, yet they still don't get fat. Very few people actually count their calories, people generally have their appetite and energy expenditure regulated autonomously for the most part. People who quit smoking tend to get fat without noticing it as well as people on certain types of medication (mostly via appetite). It's not a simple case of willpower, and it's comparable to addictions because feeding is an essential need for humans.

Beating an addiction is 99% will power.
Beating an addiction is about Developing new habits , most often ones that involve more work than previous ones.

Developing better eating habits takes time and effort.

Keep repeating a mantra that clearly doesn't work on the larger scale. We don't talk about a single individual, we talk about an epidemic of obesity.

As someone who quit smoking out of shame ill go ahead and say, Fuck that. Shame works wonders on certain people in certain applications, there is just an issue of making it the norm for everyone. Shaming people for being dumb is a bad comparison though, as environmental factors and even genetics play a role. And in the same way no one shames those who have legitimate health reasons to be fat, the issue is when someone claims their disorder which should add 10-20 pounds to their weight is the cause of them being 200 lbs overweight. The issue is when someone apologizes their addiction by claiming their families have a predisposition to addiction, which could surely apologize away something like smoking tobacco or an inability to quit tobacco but not an addiction to Crack or Heroin. Also Fantastic is spelled with an F.

new science estimates that the reason behind fat people is about 50% genetics.
and you bet that environmental factors play a role too.
also english is only my 2nd language :-)

im not denying that shame cant be helpful in some cases. Making a rule of it tho is just not going to create the results. Maybe its better tactics then most tho. not sure.
However id personally not like this at all. And this would also mean we shame everyone with an issue they can correct.
Like being stupid, or being an asshole or... you name it.
