A total of 20,155 cases were reported (Monday), down from 40,439 on Sunday. 30 new cases /100.000 citizens

US last monday: 130.000 39 new cases /100.000 citizens

Hopefully you've enjoyed your moment of not being the worst country in the world :P

You miss something, "superior handling of this crisis" would translate in (very) few cases, for example New Zealand, Thailand, China from the top of my head. EU is a fucking COVID hotspot, full blown lockdowns etc there's absolutely nothing that shows superior handling of this crisis compared to the US.

Keep it up kid, you aint upsetting me at all.

BTW Seems like you are really believing everyone will be kissing crooked Joe's asshole from now on. I think it's safe to say you're wrong ;)

You could do with some introspection, because you are clearly upset.

I'm not really missing that. We actually had it under control for quite some time.. That's being left out mostly here. Ppl focus on the number now, and not on the entire trend from the start of Covid. This new cases pike is high right now. But overall, before that time, we had a great summer with very few cases. We did make the mistake of loosening up a bit too much. We weren't able to detect the cases fast enough and isolate them across Europe, thus needing to handle it quite rigorously lately. For isolating the virus to work, you seriously need to adopt a different lifestyle as a population as a new norm, or track your citizens more closely, like in some Asian countries. New Zealand has had its own harsh lockdown, and was able to follow up after another lockdown iirc. It worked with few geological benefits on top of that. (not densely populated, island).

At the moment, imo New York is actually an example where they're keeping infection rates low, in a western densely populated area, with an autumn climate atm. We might be able to learn from that... What are they doing right btw ?

7 day moving average smooths out reporting delays.

For yesterday, the average for France is 48,720 cases and 117,043 for the USA. Given the population disparity, we're currently doing far better, and our upswings started at the same time.

Not sure, NYC was hit hard, maybe that made the people more careful. Keeping a distance to other people, avoid gatherings etc all works very well but it's up to the people to actually change their behavior.

Imo some pikes are smoothed out due to different states being in different phases of the wave compared to France. And there is something to say about building everything big and having a lower overall population density... But I'll give you that the US did better last month..

However.. We're at the peak of this new wave.. We have done better in the months before that.. Where is the peak in the US going to flatten out?

Yeah I think that helps a lot in motivating ppl to adjust their habbits and set a new norm.

Basically, France handled it way better than us until October when everybody started exploding from the cold weather.
