You miss something, "superior handling of this crisis" would translate in (very) few cases, for example New Zealand, Thailand, China from the top of my head. EU is a fucking COVID hotspot, full blown lockdowns etc there's absolutely nothing that shows superior handling of this crisis compared to the US.
I'm not really missing that. We actually had it under control for quite some time.. That's being left out mostly here. Ppl focus on the number now, and not on the entire trend from the start of Covid. This new cases pike is high right now. But overall, before that time, we had a great summer with very few cases. We did make the mistake of loosening up a bit too much. We weren't able to detect the cases fast enough and isolate them across Europe, thus needing to handle it quite rigorously lately. For isolating the virus to work, you seriously need to adopt a different lifestyle as a population as a new norm, or track your citizens more closely, like in some Asian countries. New Zealand has had its own harsh lockdown, and was able to follow up after another lockdown iirc. It worked with few geological benefits on top of that. (not densely populated, island).
At the moment, imo New York is actually an example where they're keeping infection rates low, in a western densely populated area, with an autumn climate atm. We might be able to learn from that... What are they doing right btw ?
