Santara is actually bringing up a good point: considering the fact that all major population centers of France have been in lockdown for over 2 weeks now (some of them for over 4 weeks), why do their numbers keep going up so rapidly? In countries like Spain, the UK, Germany or even Italy, the curve is already flattening again*, albeit with still increasing daily case numbers, in response to lockdowns. In France, it keeps going up, and I have no idea why.

*the second derivative of the curve is negative in those other countries, i.e. the growth of their case numbers is decelerating.

No idea, above my level. We canceled all elective surgeries for time being so I guess we are hoping that makes up the difference. I don’t know exactly how many we do but we have had >200 covid admissions in the last 3 days across the 6-7 major hospitals. At the system I work at which encompasses 3 of those hospitals we have had 80 new covid admissions in the last 3 days. If the trend continues then idk.

Lot of these people are not super sick, needing moderate amounts of oxygen and will get better in 3-5 days time. Seems unnecessary to ship easy patient to different cities for basic care. I imagine other cities in the mid west will/are having similar problems. I know Minneapolis is for example
