CNN publicly made that position years ago, and has avoided many lawsuits as a result. Fox tried (and failed) to uphold credability and got slapped multiple times for it as a result of O'Reilly, Hannity, Carlson, and other's "reporting".
Jeff Zucker made the hard shift 10 years ago, CNN no longer claims to be the news network it was founded as, and specifically dredges for ratings by pinning guests against each other in what is essentially a semi-scripted drama.
