Biden said he would shut down the virus/get it under control. Everywhere. Yes, you can blame the high mortality on antivaxxers or Trump's influence, but that doesn't change the fact that blue states don't really have the virus under control either. Biden promised a timely return to normalcy, insinuating that Trump's failed leadership was the main culprit for the country's covid woes - but in spite of having vaccines at his disposal, he has been unable to deliver, not even in places where Democrats control all levers of power like New York.

he did get it under control. cant blame him for a new strain similarly how you did not blame trump for a new strain. 60% vaccination rate of the entire country. of course cases are going to be higher when you reopen. but now, with the introduction of vaccines, we want to see hospitalizations and deaths relative to cases. if cases are up but hospitalizations are holding the line (specifically related to those with the vaccine) then he has accomplished his goal of getting this under control.

Read NY's declaration of a state of emergency that I linked. The NY governor is acting because cases and hospitalizations are surging to, quote, "levels not seen since April 2020". The situation is not under control due to Delta, the old strain... Omicron isn't even factored in yet.
Also, the majority of things being back to normal implies that the return to normalcy is not completed yet. In the long run, "the majority of everday" being back to normal just isn't good enough.


It's not necessary to turn this into a blame game. Whether Biden is to blame for the current situation or not doesn't even matter - I'm merely stating the fact that he didn't deliver on his central campaign promise, even in places where neither Republicans nor MAGA-heads nor antivaxxers can be brought up as an excuse.
