That's expected. Candidates are ALWAYS in the lead directly after their conventions. He was also in the lead after Cruz dropped out and he was sealed as the Republican nominee, also expected.

The important thing to take from his leads in the general election polling is that he has never been in the lead outside of the few occurrences where it happens for literally every candidate.

Romney never really led, even after the convention. Trump is shaking things up at least..
