Infrastructure itself is pork. That's just the way our congress has used the power of the purse, its up to states to fund critical infrastructure, not nationalized. So federal bills to fund infrastructure become a free for all grabfest where each senator tries to take a chunk back home. This is just the biggest pork bill in a long time

Yesterday, I wrote that Biden might very well have been the only Democrat able to beat Trump in 2020.
Conversely, Trump might be the only GOP nominee that could get Biden reelected in 2024...

lol. the all powerful McConnell strikes again

such as? im genuinely curious

Say what you want about Mitch, but the guy has been advancing conservative causes for decades. I don't think any Republican has been as influential as him.

Mitch McConnell successfully outflanked Obama and delivered us the Supreme Court we deserve. Trump is a loser for criticizing him.

It was an incredibly dickish move but I'm not going to lie: I much prefer Gorsuch over Garland.

Reagan and Eisenhower. Trump is more influential when it comes to a movement, not necessarily more when it comes to actual politics

what? Roberts is a total squish. the individual mandate is now the law of the land thanks to him. and Kavanaugh lol, he all that support he got in the wave of a lefty powerplay and now thinks we can suspend the Constitution for temporary measures.

McConnell deserves praise for staving off a fully lefty court but this is hardly an ideal situation.

Well yeah, Garland is attacking parents for protecting their underaged children against rapists

McConnell didn't outflank Obama, he stonewalled him and hoped for the best - it took Trump and the political realignment he spurred to defeat the Obama coalition and actually turn McConnell's maneuver into a big partisan win. Without the R nominee winning in 2016, blocking Garland would have been in vain.

Yes, Hillary was a lousy candidate, but she still had a floor of something like 47% and against someone like Rubio, there was a significant chance that she becomes president while losing the popular vote, as crazy and bizarro-world as that sounds with our hindsight knowledge.

I think McConnell would have confirmed Garland during the lame duck session because Obama never withdrew him. Garland is a dream nominee compared to someone Hillary may have offered.

True, but as we found out over the past few months, he would have been a partisan hack and reliable vote for Dem legislation too. Was it Ted Cruz who recently said so fittingly "thank god you're not on the Supreme Court"?
