The reason why Xi Jinping is so staunchly opposed to US interests is because the political turmoil of his childhood destroyed his youth and family life. Your plans seem to have backfired and created a monster that: doesn't like you, is intelligent, and is capable of long-term planning as a world leader & chemical engineer.
It's possible that this would have happened anyway, but the irony is palpable.
My plans? From what I'm reading, it was Maoism that fucked up his life.

Paid leave is a policy proposal that often primarily helps the middle class, though see the implementation of it in Canada and the corresponding criticisms.
People listen to AOC and Sanders because they have a lot of influence within the party. The perception is that Biden has caved to the progressives, and Sanders is now an elderly statesman.
Biden was elected to run a moderate presidency, that's not the perception. Talking about giving hundreds of thousands to illegal immigrants isn't just criminally unpopular with the masses, it actively shapes the public perception of the administration. Take a look at the share of voters who strongly back his performance. It's abysmal, worse than both Trump and Obama.
Right now, only the wealthy have access to PFL in America through corporate benefits. What makes you think that PFL will primarily benefit the middle class as opposed to the poor? In my eyes, it's one of the few benefits that should be universal (akin to primary/secondary education).
Regarding influence, I think Bernie has significantly more than AOC. AOC is good at fundraising and riling up certain voters but from a legislative perspective she's a nobody. Jayapal is the one who calls the shots for progressives. Anyway, I don't think there's consensus on how people perceive Biden. A lot of Democrats believe that he caved to corporate interests. You seem to believe he's caved to progressives. Others seem to think that he has absolutely no leadership skills at all. Regarding "strong approval," I think much of it stems from the fact that many people voted for Biden simply because he isn't Trump AND because liberals act like spoiled children. If they don't get everything they want, they cry about it and stay home.
I don't think many people know about the payments to illegal aliens....you have to be pretty plugged in to even know what that is. The people riled up about it were never going to vote for Biden anyway.
