I would argue that white Western liberals are actually some of the most pro in-group, power-hungry, viscous people who have ever wielded power. In regards to their racial/ethnic group preference, you're right, they are all but suicidal. But in terms of political and economic power, they want it all, and they have proven that they'll do anything to get it, and gleefully use it to abuse everyone else they possibly can.

It's really quite simple: white liberal voters are a self-loathing bunch who support all sorts of self-defeating policies in their quest to morally elevate themselves//soothe their guilty conscience. Politicians from liberal parties cater to these sentiments and preference to gain political power. And in the case that white liberal voters lose power at some point in the future as a result of their own policies, liberal politicians expect to be able to replace them with the vote from groups which had gained status and power at their expense.
