Let me make this very clear since the crisis in Ukraine seems to be above the intellectual pay-grade of most people here.

Ukraine has two options:

1. Keep attacking Donbass, shelling civilians and launching other attacks into Donbass.

Result: Russian army response that will result in the complete annihilation of forces attacking Donbass, possible further loss of territory.

2. Stop sending shells at civilians, demilitarize the front-line with Donbass and sue for peace.

Result: Russia does nothing other than sending peacekeepers into DPR, no further loss of territory and everyone can get on with their lives.

Either way, Ukraine has lost the breakaway region completely and it's about time they accepted that rather than put the world at risk of nuclear war because they are incapable of accepting that there are consequences for their actions. Ukraine is like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum - you can't take them seriously because they don't act like adults.

"Wahhh, we killed thousands of innocent people and launched an unprecedented military campaign on our own nation's people, and lost the war but we still want to have our cake and eat it too! And if the rest of the world doesn't like it, too bad, we'll get them dragged into an un-winnable nuclear war so that they can all die with us!"

Fucking insane. This is a perfect demonstration of how supposedly "intelligent" species end up destroying themselves time after time after time.

Ukraine is literally not attacking Donbass, has stated they have no plans to attack Donbass, and has not been attacking Donbass.

Ukraine's leadership are a bunch of absolute fucking imbeciles and incompetent cowards.

They are going to get thousands of their own soldiers killed for nothing.

Of-course, there are very few nations that have leadership that actually care about the lives of their soldiers, so I'm sure it will mean nothing to them.

Jesus Christ man, talking to you is like talking to a brick wall that would swear that water isn't wet.

They have been attacking Donbass for 8 fucking years. They've killed dozens with shells in the past few days alone. They have launched numerous probing and saboteur groups into DPR territory, resulting in firefights on the front line just in the past couple of days alone.

In 2014-2015, they sent tens of thousands of troops backed by armored vehicles, airstrikes from Su-25's, and heavy artillery and it was only because of the determination of the local fighters that they were beaten back.

Sorry, but you don't get to tell the victims of the ongoing genocide in Donbass that they haven't been getting murdered the past 8 years. Yes, they have been and yes, your denials are just as bad as someone who would pretend that the Nazi's did not carry out a holocaust against Jews.

If you believe Russian propaganda sure. If you live in reality with the rest of us, nah.

I feel kind of bad for the Ukrainian president Zelensky. The poor guy is so over his head, probably needs ketamine to fall asleep at night. They guy used to be career comedian with his most popular show being that he was elected as Ukraines president (yes really). My wife and I actually used to watch this show "Sluga Naroda" years ago, which translates to Servant of the People from Russian. The funny part is, even though it was an Ukrainian show it, the whole show is purely in the Russian language, because in Ukraine everyone is fluent in Russian

So back to recent news, now they're drafting anyone from 18-60 year old as reservists... tbh I think the brass there is in panic mode. They know the west wont send a single soldier, they know for the most part the west won't send any serious weapons, and the sanctions against Russia will provide zero comfort to these politicians and decision makers if rockets/bullets start coming down. For the life of me I can't fathom a full out war happening here though. There won't be a guerilla war if Russia invades simply because half of the population is pro-Russian and voted for a pro-Russian president not that long ago. What's most likely to happen is at the first sign of any serious military flex by Russia I think you'll see an Afghanistan-type capitulation.

Honestly, I'm really starting to lose faith in humanity by the day. If no one can see their own faults, or admit their own hypocrisy, or realize when they are being lied to about something, then it's hard to see how this world has a future.

I didn't know "Ukraine" is "Kiev" now. You know invasions don't have to go all the way to a capital to still be an invasion right?

I could see Russian seizing Kyiv as realistic, but I don't think it makes much sense to expect them to move beyond the Dnieper, does it? What interest would they have in seizing western ukraine or trying to hold it? Kiev however remains in a precarious place.
Encircling Kiev is certainly a fear
