once upon a time, there existed meaningful bipartisanship in our Congress until the last of the Republican progressives were driven out of their party in the late 1960's. starting in the late 1960's into early 70's, the entire party shifted to politics of fear and slid ideologically further and further to the right and has since been fuelled by hate-filled, regressive populism.
Trump is only a result of the party's descent. I do think he's an idiot and hilarious but he's only a symptom of the bigger underlying problem that the right doesn't seem to want to address. where are all the sane Conservatives? who on the right isnt a populist these days?? why doesnt the average conservative understand that their own party is working against their self-interest?? they'd rather suffer as long as they can 'own the libs', its insane lol
