So what? 70% of Americans being overweight/obese doesnt make the associated health risks any smaller, the only effect it has is that fat people have "strength in numbers", so that being fat is kinda normalized and they dont need to feel as ashamed.

That's exactly it. Americans are so fat as a populace they think being 209 lbs at average height is being in great shape, because it probably is in relative terms, but not objectively.

I'm not talking shit against anyone here or Americans in general, it's just a statement of fact.

e/ the below table is an average across males and females btw.
