On topic: I have COVID and it sucked. Put me in the ER for a day while they pumped me full of steroids and got my o2 levels up. My job requires I test negative before I come back which goes against the CDC guidelines and what my doctor stated. They brought me back to work for 30 minutes before sending me home and making me take another test. Because they brought me back to work for that 30 minutes I get another 2 weeks paid because I tested positive.

Unfortunately I have to quarantine for 2 weeks again even though I'm not infectious but I'm not going to rile up the health department about it when they have more important shit to focus on.

This is no different than the US states having to beg the federal government for financial assistance during this (which is obtained by the total of states pooling money together).
Many states are being punished harsher than others in terms of economic impact.
I wouldn't deem Florida a broken state just because they rely heavily on cross state travel for money and everyone is stuck indoors.

This is an example of the EU functioning the way our states work, and what was an intention in it's design. (reference EU's own goals: enhance economic, social and territorial cohesion and solidarity among EU countries)
