Fine. Investigate him. Prosecute him. Unlike Republicans, I think it is important to hold the powerful accountable for their actions.

Dude, even I wanted to see witnesses called by the Senate. But that was before I realized how that would play out. This wasn't about getting the truth, we already had that. This was about soundbites that would be used for the 2020 elections.

The Dems have spent 3 years, trying to overturn the 2016 election, and everything they claimed, turned out to be false. Not only false but composed of illegal, created evidence. How would YOU feel if someone tried to frame you for something illegal, that you hadn't done?

I think you've lost your objectivity on this issue.

This all started back with Clinton willfully destroying evidence, and has gotten even darker and more twisted as time has passed. We have illegally obtained FISA warrants, a fictional dossier, a bimbo shrink from Cali trying to frame Kavanaugh, a State Dept., that's getting way out of hand (they work for the POTUS, not the other way around). What does it take to convince you that the Dems have been pretty much, up to no good for the past 3-4 years?

/e I ALSO think we should hold the powerful accountable for their actions, but only when and if it's justified. Never because... we just don't like the guy. I know Trump's past is seriously colorful, but since being elected he has done nothing illegal or wrong. If he had I would be the first to call for... string the bastid up.
But in all honesty, the ONLY people I see doing... wrong are the Dems.

In the US, coups aren't... legal. Personally, I'd prefer we kept it that way. I don't WANT to wake up one morning and find out Il Generalissimo Asshole is running the country.

A disgrace. Voting against John Bolton testifying will haunt this Senate's legacy for decades. The GOP has voted to give the chief executive an even greater expansion of powers. This will do long-term damage to the country and the supposed greatest deliberative body in the world for years to come.

i always cringed when they said that. i mean, to an american that's probably a normal thing to just claim without thinking about it, but considering what a partisan shit show the senate has become, and how it managed to completely disenfranchise the vast majority of american citizens, it's really not more than a meaningless title these days...

I do wonder how this plays out going forward. Bolton's book is going to come out, and it's unlikely that the NYT sources are wrong. There could be more information via FOIA requests, and maybe the House continues fighting in court for more documents.

Some senators have taken the position that "Trump did it, it was wrong, but not impeachable", but having to repeat that over and over while campaigning might create some resentment among Trump cultists. I see this as bad politically for Trump and Republicans.

The Republicans were threatening him to not public his book and are doing their best to suppress it.

I suppose it isn't crazy that it is Bolton that stands up for principled conservatism and not sell out like absolutely everyone else has. He's always been the war horse line of guy.

Talking to him encourages more Facebook memes. I don't use Facebook for a reason and resent it being dragged here.

As I said previously, it was a "pick your poison" situation for the GOP. Of course this vote will cost them politically. But allowing further, damaging witnesses to testify and to drag the process out, only for them to acquit Trump in the end anyway, would also have caused them political damage. They made the calculation that the public is kinda tired of this whole impeachment process, that they can delay Bolton's book in court, and that the whole thing will run out of steam even if damaging new info comes out, as long as it's not a total bombshell. Also, with the Democratic primaries and later the general election campaign under way, new infos on the old Ukraine story might not gain much traction. I personally think their calculation is correct.

Oh yeah, for weeks and weeks, there is a super high profile impeachment process against the President of the United States, and John Bolton has explosive and highly relevant infos on the events which lie at the core of this impeachment - but he only comes forward with his info shortly before his new book comes out. What a principled conservative and totally not a sellout he is...

people like commie skinned still think if you say something in the internet it must be true. calling people he hates “principled” or “conservative” is his way of trying to add credibility to his emotional posts

only thing bolton wants to conserve is the military industrial warmongering complex. of course a junior boomer like skinned would try and cheerlead for this type of individual

In 6 months from now, all anyone will remember about impeachment is that it was 100% partisan and it failed. Nobody will care about Bolton being a witness or not. Democrats will thump "impeached for life" to make themselves feel better, independents won't give a shit, Republicans will count it as another victory under his belt. People will just draw a comparison between Nixon, Clinton and Trump, and Trump's will be remembered as turning out even weaker than the Clinton case where they managed to prove he lied- in Trump's case they never got the bombshell they wanted.

yep just like mueller’s report. 2 years of election-deniers working themselves into a frenzy all for a dud

oh and avenatti - the media and many lefties hailed him as the ‘savior of the republic’ who would take down drumpf in 2020 lmfao

Congress to subpoena Bolton ?

I think this is the next step. Once again the only thing republicans did is a bullet in the belly instead of head

A good comparison is, who remembers that Democrats hollered about the Mueller report being partially redacted, now?
Who gives a shit?

All anyone remembers is that it was a dud
