https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBpiXcyB7wUJohn Olivers show from last night, all about the power grid.
I found it notable that the entire focus of the show was on how liberals should consider themselves morally justified to infringe upon the rights of yokels in flyover states. While talking about the needs to build massive amounts of solar and wind, at no point did it ever even mention nuclear energy, nor did it lay any blame on regulatory hurdles. No, the boogeyman they chose was the landowners and private citizens living in the midwest and appalachia, and how their opposition to building massive infrastructure across their land for which they would see no benefit, only to service Californians, is morally repugnant and should be denounced and rolled over. Despite focusing on
their compromises, it didn't even consider conservation and mitigation efforts in urban coastal states, instead it demanded larger production and consumption at the expense of rural states. But 'throw some money at them as we claim their land by eminent domain' is the excuse.
Put a nuclear power plant smack in the middle of every major city and connect their power grids at the local level and maybe build two or three for LA, lets call that a 'compromise'. Naw, we need to put smiley faces on the transmission lines that blight some yokel's land
