It baffles me that he can't just disavow white supremacists, even if it's a dumb question. Very few people who are racist/white supremacist actually admit to being racist/white supremacists, they deny it. So by disavowing them and taking a hard stand you don't lose any of those votes anyways, because those people don't even believe they fall into that bucket.
Didn't understand the need to attack to aggressively last night either, if you're going to put out the narrative that Biden is so incompetent mentally, let him talk and expose himself.
The issue is that it becomes a catch-22. By disavowing white supremacy, you risk being seen as a white supremacist.
Imagine a candidate who needs to routinely insist he/she is not a murderer. Wouldn't some of us eventually start to wonder if it's true? It's a weak position to be in, you can't attack if you're always on the defensive. Rather than defend, you need to redirect the conversation and counter attack.
