yea i can see that- i think im probably fond of him because he was one of the first explorers i learned about in school back in the 1st grade. My mom took be to the columbus day parade every year in the city and it was a great time.

it definitely depends on the state as well, Florida doesn't care about Columbus day at all

for sure- its not a thing in VA or any of the states around VA. I worked with guys from MD, WV, DC, Pennsylvania.

All in all- i wouldnt be opposed to a holiday that celebrated something worth celebrating- which, as white washed as it is, columbus day celebrates exploration. Its not a bad thing- it gets people excited and wondering about things they can explore.
Columbus might have been a bad guy, who knows- but thats not what the holiday is about. Its also a hell of a lot better than giving people a day to sober up after an ultimately meaningless game. Its been 500 years since columbus's voyages and here we are discuss them. Do you think anyone will talk about A superbowl in 500 years? even in reference a specific superbowl in 50 years? i think not.

a lot of provinces in Canada have a "Family Day" in February, something like that might work

sounds nice- i remember when i was in germany- they had a festival in Koln and it was great. Dont remember what it was for, it was in March. Just a happy joyeous time and people were celebrating, parading in the streets.



not sure i understand. I love sports though- good sports. Hockey and tennis are the sports i would say i enjoy the most.

idk what banning a flag does for anyone. I dont know what banning anything does for anyone. If someone wants to do something, they usually do it- if they dont, then they dont really want it in the first place.
