Civilizations Rise and Fall Series isn't a horrible set of books. While you can't simply surmise civilization as we know it within three books without neglecting areas that other readers are going to in their opinion consider as major driving factors that the author did not; it still offers a good take without oversimplifying a very complex and broad subject matter.

Perhaps it will broaden your views. I do recommend reading it though. The audible version will put you to sleep with the mono-tone narrator.
