because you can evaluate the sources and decide for yourself.

There's methodology to determine if a historical claim is likely to be true. Historians generally don't just write a book and then it's just magically accepted.

Some people say that the Big bang was GOD. People's perspectives on this vary from person to person. Nothing just pops into existence something had to happen to live on earth. Was it Time, maybe evolution, No one knows. In the end we will all find out. As for now just be kind to each other. In the End we meet the same Fate.

When the roman empire wiped out opposing villages and towns. They would salt the fields , burn buildings and over-all demolish the area.

They litterally made those people disappear. They were never recorded in history.

You cant believe something because its beneficial to you. Thats where the problems start. Believing is not something you can choose to do.

The reason for believing something, has to be evidential to make sense. Thats how our world works - except for Religion.
Thats what fascinates me about that question.
God is such a strong example of wishful thinking. People do not want to die, they also dont want to be responsable for anything at all. God gives so much comfort that they try to be convinced about it at all cost. Absolutely fascinating.

Even if I accept that (I don't) it doesn't really answer the question. Even very simple things like the fact that we breathe through the same hold we swallow through is sloppy. God's design is crap if God designed the universe.
