If you were to sample hundreds of English speakers, and ask them, "would you consider two people wanting two different genres of food for the same meal as Contrasting Ideas?" how many of them do you think would say, Yes?

Please do not double-down on your stupidity.

When people say contrasting ideas, they usually refer to weighty topics. And your spouse wanting different things for dinner than you do is not a weighty topic.

Doubling down? Are we even speaking the same language? In language, you can combine words to articulate meaning and create sentences.

contrasting: to compare in order to show unlikeness or differences; note the opposite natures, purposes, etc., of:
ideas: a thought, conception, or notion. a plan of action; an intention:


Also, one of the laws of communication is that meanings are in people. It doesn't matter if you have some special relevance you place on "contrasting ideas" - it matters how others receive and understand that, and if I had to speculate... you would be in the minority with your interpretation.

Keep thinking that wanting different food is an example of contrasting ideas. I have no desire to keep you from humiliating yourself in public.

Even if I was wrong, which I am not... It wouldn't be an embarrassment to myself. I welcome growth and learning new things I'd be happy to tutor you in English for fg.
