I wouldn't credit Democrats strongly with either of those things. Obama was weak ass on gay marriage until it was legalized by the supreme court. They also made no meaningful differences on cops being held accountable.

I mean...it was 4 Democrats out of a 5 person majority on the Supreme Court so I would "strongly" give them credit. It was also Democrats who started pushing the policy while the opposition was pushing a Constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.

Cops are starting to be held accountable (still a lot of work to be done) because Democratic mayors and Democratic DAs are finally prosecuting the easy cases.

Anyway, I think people need to keep their expectations in line with reality. You can criticize for not doing enough but you also have to be thankful for your wins, and more importantly, you need to advertise them. If you don't, you're REALLY going to feel the losses. From my perspective, Biden has been significantly more liberal than I expected (but still within the realm of reason where the GOP shouldn't complain too much).

On the other side, many Republicans will say that we're losing the fight on abortion. I'd argue that abortion laws passed over the last decade violate Casey and the GOP has gotten away with it. I'd consider that a STRONG win for the pro-life group.

Imagine if we applied your attitude to things like cancer research: "This research sucks because it didn't cure cancer, why are we funding it? Who cares that we saw promising results for this demographic but it didn't work for everyone?"

He is acting as a sane adult, but I refuse to lower the bar to the point where that's considered an accomplishment.

Buddy you definitively should not be trying to imply that you are able to determine who is acting sane and who isn't lmfao

Just read the first few posts and one thing needs to be pointed out:

Biden hasn't substantially changed the border, and reverted back to many of Trump's worse policies once people stopped paying attention.

Bogie literally told me today bidens running an open border policy.

The Biden admin did reverse Trump's approach to the border and tried to slam the door wide open. He only reinstated the MPP/"Remain in Mexico" once the courts forced him to, and let's not forget that his DoJ fought tooth and nail to prevent that decision.
You also have to acknowledge that polling throughout the year has consistently shown immigration to be one of Biden's biggest weaknesses, so him reversing course on his initial border policy makes perfect sense, he probably had no other choice.

So far the only things I see that Biden has actually done right are the first stimulus check, deferring student loans further, and following through with getting out of Afghanistan. That's not enough for a full year in office.

Which is kinda sad. The first stimulus check under Biden seemed inevitable at the time and something similar would have come (perhaps with a smaller price tag/scope) under Trump too. The studen loan issue was deferred for some months, but the Biden admin has not come up with any long-term plan for it. And the withdrawal from Afghanistan, while the correct decision in a vacuum, was executed in the most disastrous and incompetent manner imaginable.

If those are the items standing on the plus-side of Biden's track record, things are indeed looking dire.

Most lefties still seem to be under the impression that "Right wing" means pro war, pro corporation, free trade, when it's shifted so dramatically in another direction. I did attempt to enlighten them in another thread as to these shifts in what the right wing largely believes but they weren't able to grasp a bit of it.

You're right. The moderates of ol' are now considered "right-wing". If you want to be left alone, don't care for homosexuality or transgenders, you're automatically a bigot and right-wing extremist.

Now normalize by vaccinated vs unvaccinated total population. Because when you do that you find the rate of cases is far lower in vaccianted individuals.

Oh, I think if we're going by objective truth, Biden's record makes the Hindenburg crash seem tame. My fear, and I think it's justified, is that there are no longer mechanisms/counter forces in existence who can properly punish failure. I think Thomas Sowell put it best:

“It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.”
