I've always been baffled by that. You don't get what you want after 2 years so you punish your side and make it harder to pass your agenda? Young people should see just how much has changed between administrations and be motivated to push the Democrats further and make Manchin irrelevant. Republicans have been trying to get Roe overturned for 50 fucking years and now they are likely to see the fruits of their labor. They didn't quit just because Carter became President lol.

To put it simply, even when Demcorats win they don't get shit done.

In 2008 when Democrats had a supermajority they passed Obamacare. A watered down healthcare plan written by Republicans.

And when Democrats win but not by that margin they fold like a cheap suite. They're never willing to shoot the hostage like Republicans are, so they just never get anything done.

Perhaps we've failed to educate our youth, but our government is literally designed to benefit conservatives in the traditional sense. Being ineffective at the federal level is a feature, not a bug.

Is Obamacare universal healthcare? No, but it's a step in the right direction if healthcare is a priority for you. It works so well that Republicans have given up on trying to get it repealed. I think the Democrats really need to focus on WHY the incremental progress is actually a "big fucking deal" like Biden would say. They should be bombarding the airwaves with anecdotes and charts but they always seem to be caught off guard.

IMO we're not seeing a slow government designed to be deliberate, we're seeing a government that's been near totally stalled by corruption. Even the Civil Rights Act was only debated for 60 days and managed to get to a vote with bipartisan support.

The level of slowdown we're seeing is pretty unprecedented since World War II, even when you compare it to incredibly controversial laws.

An infrastructure spending bill that is 10 years overdue and only delivering half the amount we needed 10 years ago is not something that should take half a year to debate, even in a slow system that favors conservatives. This kind of project wouldn't have taken this long pretty much any other time in our history.

This slowdown is the exact reason why China will overtake US as the world’s superpower very soon. They’ve already surpassed us in some metrics, it’ll only be a matter of time.

Very possible. China has proven they can respond much more effectively and dynamically than the U.S.

The sad part is that the majority of Americans are too dumb to realize this, and they follow party loyalty instead of policy-driven decisions. We are witnessing our own demise and most of us don’t even realize that we’re doing it to ourselves.

I wonder how many people died being welded inside their own apartments.

Its also worth noting that they are a lot less fat, although that is changing with stores like Starbucks and McDonalds moving there.

Its foolish to think that China was ever honest about their death or case numbers over there.

Yeah but China is also repressive. Citizens don't like repressive governments when their standard of living isnt consistently increasing, so we will see how stable they are in years to come

will have to see what happens once xi is gone. he is like late 60s so he still has time to rule. will be ironic to see china become a beacon of freedom and opportunity as the west falls.
