Perhaps we've failed to educate our youth, but our government is literally designed to benefit conservatives in the traditional sense. Being ineffective at the federal level is a feature, not a bug.
Is Obamacare universal healthcare? No, but it's a step in the right direction if healthcare is a priority for you. It works so well that Republicans have given up on trying to get it repealed. I think the Democrats really need to focus on WHY the incremental progress is actually a "big fucking deal" like Biden would say. They should be bombarding the airwaves with anecdotes and charts but they always seem to be caught off guard.
IMO we're not seeing a slow government designed to be deliberate, we're seeing a government that's been near totally stalled by corruption. Even the Civil Rights Act was only debated for 60 days and managed to get to a vote with bipartisan support.
The level of slowdown we're seeing is pretty unprecedented since World War II, even when you compare it to incredibly controversial laws.
An infrastructure spending bill that is 10 years overdue and only delivering half the amount we needed 10 years ago is not something that should take half a year to debate, even in a slow system that favors conservatives. This kind of project wouldn't have taken this long pretty much any other time in our history.
