Its just precious that you think the boomer wing of conservative America isn't still firmly in control and actively manipulating the narrative.

Just.... Precious.

Trump was the closest thing to a populist you've ever had and he turned out to be fake populism who gave tax cuts to the rich and killed jobs with ineffective tarrifs.

I'd love to have a real populast to vote for, but they literally don't exist on the right, and barely exist on the left (in terms of currently elected officials, and to the degree that the left even exists among elected officials)

Don't confuse populism with popular-ism. Trump NAILED the nativist part of right-wing populism and went after many sectors of the elite (intellectuals, media, deep state, etc.)

So we're using individual anecdotal evidence to paint the entirety of unionized workforces as bad? LOL. I can play that game. I work for a Fortune 100 company, and I did ask for a higher raise before my annual review two years ago (before COVID), and I made my case for it based on my work. I got the same 3% COLA raise like everyone else.

It's really easy for an employer to slap down one employee. It's a lot harder to do it when there are 10,000.

I base it on experience not armchair theorycrafting. Seems like your kind are stubborn beyond reproach.
So are you fixated on pay increases that you cannot hear anything else being offered to you. It's like you play a 5 year old lalala I can't hear you game. If you are not willing to be open to getting out of your predicament then can't help you.

You're moving goalposts. I literally answered the question you asked (yes, I know you asked Plaguefear, but it's still a question):

you ever tried to ask for a raise once in your life or you just armchairing this one again?

So then it was "you've either tried to ask for a raise or you're armchairing", now it's "even though you've tried to ask for a raise, you're still armchairing".

You don't get to have it both ways.

hey genius, you're talking about people leaving a job and giving up massive piles of money and severance that have worked at Kellogg's for 10-15 years because of changes made by management in the last few years.

its not a situation where they say "hey i make 25$ now but im worth 28$, ill ask my boss for 28$ and if he says now ill go somewhere else"

its more like "i make 25$, and have a decade of severance and retirement benefits. management says if i dont work 120 days in a row and dont accept a raise to 25.10$ for this year and also work on christmas i will lose money when they dock my pay. and if i leave im going to lose many thousands of dollars to go get a job somewhere else. lose my severance package, and lose my retirement benifits".

its like u didnt even read my post because holy fuck do you sound like an idiot.

Got a raise clap for you. But you still not satisfied?

OK I get it a company is giving employees the short end of the stick. I thought that was too basic foundation that I didn't have to explain, but it seems like need it so here it goes.

- Companies have been for profit for hundreds of years now why is everyone cringe posting acting like it's the first time they hearing it in their lives?
- Of course they going to game of thrones cut people if they need to. This isn't 70s any more.
- if you are stuck in a company that makes suger and corn products for 15 years on $25p/h something is seriously wrong.
The industry changes rapidly, there is a myriad of things that can make a company downsize, restructure, liquidate. (covid, recession, financial difficulties, industry changes - maybe people are not buying Kellogg's any more for healthier concious alternatives etc etc)
You ever stop to think about reasons why a company does what it does? No it's all to same to you it's corporate greed you shout.

Why continue working for a shitty company for 15 years is a real question. How about get a hint and work for a healthy company who pays $28 or higher. People don't want to evolve, this is why certain industries and products continue to be on the shelf decades longer then they should be.

I say good let those workers get a rude wake up call. No one should support that company and their sugar products anyway.

its simple, most of hte time large scale strikes happen one of 2 things occurs:

1. company buckles, people return to work, strike breaking temp workers are sent home, workers happy.

2. workers buckle, take a deal lower than they wanted, strike breaking temp workers are sent home, company happy.

here we have:

3. workers nor company buckle, no deal, strike breaking workers are hired, striking workers are out of a job and lose all of their accumulated benefits and lost pay.

you sure do have a terrible grasp on the history of worker union strikes for someone who spent a few hours typing shitty takes in this thread.
