my point would be if u further break down specifics you quickly get to a point where its hard to get votes for it. and polling majorities dont always equate to voting majorities, people get cold feet in a real number.
i earnestly dont think that you'd get votes for the govt to fund paid leave for families if they laid out the exact proposal. too much, too little, too long, too short, etc. all kinds of objections, let alone legal challenges.
this has been the crux of legalized pot, despite a voting majority on legalization generally, for decades. DUI, age of legal use, etc always causes hurdles.
republicans do the same with safe border talk, who doesnt want a safe border? who wants cartel to have an open pathway? but specifics? forget about it
