When the constant beat of the right-wing propagandists for decades is that the world is ending and America is being taken over, it's not hard to see how even those not on the far-right would approve of extreme measures.

It's weird because I'm a conservative Catholic who is politically moderate, and there's several trends in America towards secularism and the left that I'm worried about. But the response from the right worries me more than the underlying problem.

Are you a Christian? Do you belong to a denomination? I'm actually interested in the answer.

You're perpetuating a secular, progressive narrative by pretending these bishops are approving the formation of a document on the Eucharist as if it's meant to be a political stand against Biden. That's bullshit. The question of Catholic politicians who are vocally pro-abortion receiving the Eucharist has been around for years and it's not some right-wing plot to hurt Biden. It simply has more relevance now.

No Catholic with mortal sin on their soul can receive the Eucharist. Catholics are supposed to know that support of abortion is grave sin. Catholics who support abortion need to repent of it through reconciliation with a priest. That's the issue. And I believe the final say comes from the local bishop as to whether a particular individual can receive communion, whether the USCCB decides to be strict or not.

I'm not sure how a school could balance out between left-wing and right-wing bias in the eyes of the illiberal right.

The scientific fields are either neutral or left-wing, because most anti-science thought comes from the right. Economics is a mixed bag... it's sort of biased to the left in a neo-liberal sense. Sociology and history are obviously going to be biased to the left, both in reasonable and unreasonable ways.

So, this effort just seems ridiculous. And we're like 6 months past right-wing authoritarians trying to overthrow American democracy after a moderate, neoliberal Democratic white guy won the presidency, so what's with the drastic measures, outside of riling up the rubes with a culture war because Biden is so boring?

Lutheran church.

They are the only ministers I find that preach theologically and not dumbed down to plebs.

Biden is akin to a mob boss. At this point he has decades and decades of treachery to make up for.

Trump is probably around the same spot, but at least he doesn't murder babies..

1. The Catholic church has more who follow orthodoxy than those who stray away with the beliefs of the age. We don't have sects splintering over gay marriage. Based on our beliefs, if you stray too far away you are no longer part of the true church that Christ founded.
2. Biden could walk into a confessional tomorrow and be forgiven for all the wrong he has done. That's the teaching of the Catholic church. Of course, he would have to live those beliefs.
3. Trump is obviously not a Christian so that's irrelevant.

This is obviously foolish because I wouldn't want Bill Barr to be denied communion for doing his job. The death penalty is federally legal and Barr was absolutely correct to enforce the law. I don't want Amy Coney Barrett to be denied communion for following SCOTUS precedent and allowing fag marriage. It's better to just deal with personal transgressions and as far as I know, Biden hasn't caused someone to get an abortion.
