Once you get above like $20 a bottle there's no correlation.

The "required technique" that produced wines even 20 years ago is inferior to modern wine making techniques in just about every way. That's why in 2005 California swept France in blind tasting competitions with expert French wine manufacturers as the judges. They then tried to censor their loss by banning the organizer from as many wine organizations and competitions as possible, before eventually accepting that their techniques were inferior.

Oh wow, I thought it was more recent, but there was another competition where French wine experts all judged California as superior way back in the 70's.

Turns out France hasn't been king shit of wine for literally your entire life.

Guess you didn't read the article. They were French experts doing the judging in France. Your own experts have said for longer than your entire life that California wine is superior.

I suggest you stop being delusional kid because thats french people who sells wine to americans not the reverse thanks

You guys make excellent specific wines but you don't have the soil diversity that America has. For instance, take a look at the best Cabs: https://www.wine-searcher.com/grape-76-cabernet-sauvignon?tab_F=best
Hell, even AUSTRALIA has surpassed you with some varietals and wines. None of this really matters though because you clearly lack to sophistication to know what good wine is. Because you lack "greatness" in your own life, you have to cling to the identities that make France great.

It's of course not a perfect correlation, but claiming that there is not association or correlation at all is laughable.

Just today I saw several unsophisticated tourists carry their wine in 3 liter plastic cans from Aldi across the parking lot. This kind of ultra cheap wine will of course taste like shit...

Europeans in general are afraid to branch out in terms of taste and style. So much of your culture is tied to food/drink so if there's any evolution, you lose a part of your culture. For instance, Germans are very rigid in their idea of a beer which is a shame.

Dude, our Reinheitsgebot (purity law for beer) is the reason we have the best beer in the world! B)

Large parts of American food culture literally consist of aimlessly throwing together the ethnic food of the various people who came to the US over time.

If you're gonna find the best combinations it's gonna take a lot of fucking around. Trial and error results in far more errors than successes.

You have some of the best beers in the world. I love a good German beer on a hot summer day but my go to is a Russian Imperial Stout. Saying you have the best beer in the world is like saying you have the best apples in the world when all you grow is Golden Delicious

I think you have a pretty naive interpretation of American food culture if you think it involves aimlessly throwing together ethnic food. You need to understand what makes Japanese food great, what makes Indian food great, etc. We must continue to innovate while perfecting the classics simultaneously. The irony here is that European food was very different before you got New World ingredients.
