Surprised or?

People told people that Biden = WAR for 4 years.
People said Biden = No more Guns
People said Biden = Fracking banned

Yet people act surprised now that these "Conspiracy theorist" are right and that Biden lied to your face and not even one day in, went after your guns, fracking and soon you guys going at war again.

Biden might not be Jesus after all. They starting to wake up. This will be a beautiful 4 years telling them "Told you so" "You voted for him, you deal with it"

Trump was an idiot but had conviction and wanted peace . Called Covid a hoax for what it is and you guys went at him because you guys were scared for your health/security due to fearmongering from the MEDIA. Trump was a shit president but he went after the elite, the govs out of line and didn't get scared. Now you guys have a new Prez that is already hand in hand with China and want to fight many proxy wars over resources. (Syria for the biggest pipeline route in the world)

Notice how BLM,Antifa and these other groups never created "Covid" spikes? Yup! Destroying your cities/states prevent them from getting covid.

You guys soon won't have gun to revolt and if you do, it'll be with knives and scissors and #FEMA camps will be ready to welcome you to your new home for not OBEYING.

Also, on impeachment... I find it refreshing that Biden has not been playing pundit-in-chief. He doesn't need to have an opinion on every issue of the day.

And the Senate failing to hold Trump responsible for his behavior is not a path to unity. It would just be a signal to his base that he did nothing wrong. Pushing these people further away from reality is not helpful in bringing the country together.

The House has already impeached him, and a majority (51+) of the Senate will vote to convict, including several Republicans. (Romney and Collins are a lock, Sasse and Murkowski are likely to join them imho, perhaps a few more). So, in the most likely scenario, Trump will only barely avoid conviction because the required two-thirds majority is an impossibly high hurdle to overcome. I dont see how this outcome would signal to his base that he did nothing wrong.

So his base cant decode "china says no evidence of h2h spread" but can decode that a couple extra republican senators voting is a punishment?

I was more referring to Republicans calling for Biden to denounce impeachment, for the articles to be immediately dismissed, etc.

IceMage was talking about the Senate sending a signal to Trump's base. If half a dozen Republican senators (and not just the idiosyncratic Romney) vote to convict, that is a strong signal. I am, of course, not having any illusions about Trump's base hearing the message, but that's beside the point. In fact, I dont think that Senate Republicans could do anything to reach or convince these people. If the entire GOP caucus voted against Trump, that would only confirm the base's beliefs about the deep state, the 'uniparty' and so on.

Those calls are indeed silly. Wishful thinking on the part of these Republicans who want to avoid casting a difficult vote on impeachment which they know will divide and weaken their caucus.

Really? It makes it look partisan if it's a slight majority. It would indicate that ~90% of GOP Senators condone the behavior. That's effectively what we saw in the House and it riled up the base even more.
