While it appears Noosegate may have been overblown, it is interesting what came of it. NASCAR fans instantly go to racist rhetoric online to attack Bubba. Former driver says he wishes Bubba was drug around the pits area by the noose because he "single handedly ruined the sport i love", presumably by putting a BLM sticker on his car. Fans desperate to save the confederate flag at events blame Bubba for everything and get racist towards him.

what's looking clear is this wasnt a hate crime, what's even more clear is NASCAR still clearly has a lot of racist fans, drivers, etc. as if that wasnt obvious already.

The best / funniest thread I may have ever seen on Twitter was when the official NASCAR account tweeted about banning the Confederacy flag. The amount of people raging was pure comedy. I can’t wait for the South Park episode.

I am reminded of the NASCAR episode of South Park where Cartman became a driver sponsored by Vagisil.

i for one am perplexed as to who benefits in this situation. although NASCAR has done more for improving race relations in recent weeks compared to organizations like the NBA, the NFL, the DNC etc., the stupid fans are all ticked (which is stupid on their part but whatever, they're stupid), and now NASCAR looks incompetent with handling this whole garage door opener thing. Bubba Wallace ran to Don Lemon to screech last night and that obviously didn't go so well, hence his mea culpa. just a series of unforced errors at a time when it seemed like the sport was really making waves with cleaning up at least part of it's act.

i dont see the cleaning up going well tho.

confederate flag ban = literally 10's of thousands of racist tweets and just general stupidity

bubba claims noose = tweets of people with racist shit, drivers getting SUPER racist, etc.

nascar is just a cesspool. and they're trying to clean it up but its a bunch of southern white dudes, about 10% or so are vocally racist, and the rest are silent.

and in any case, NASCAR wont lose fans. just like the NFL didnt lose fans. for every good ol boy that wont watch NASCAR they'll get a new fan or two just for these gestures. dumb white people need something to do for 6 hours to give them an excuse to day drink. whole lotta left turns, never got the appeal.
