We don't really have a choice. We're surrounded by larger nations all speaking another language. Speaking French/German is a huge plus on your CV here, and afaik our % of people speaking English is higher than Canada.

For me, my language teaching was some English in primary school (this has become more now than it was in my time). Then during my 6 years of secondary school I had 6 years of English and Dutch, 5 years of Latin (Classical language is required to graduate with Gymnasium degree), 3 years of French and 2 years of German. Growing up close to the German border helped learning German easier, we ate out there, got gas there, shopped there etc. The Latin also helps massively with most romance languages. Italian and Spanish are easier to understand with that as a base, even though I've forgotten nearly all of my Latin education, haha.

Could never understand why someone would choose to be Democrat other than complete smugness. Why would you want to give government even more power over your life. Absolutely idiotic.

that's really just the pc term for 'race' amongst (german) right wingers. obviously most of them don't exactly embrace being bigots when they are on their own, so they act all concerned about our "culture" - while in reality most of them are pretty much clueless what that word even means...

Unless you're black, gay, a woman, etc. Republicans commonly support police brutality under the guise of law and order....extrajudicial executions are authoritarian. They do not want women to be able to control their reproduction and as a result have economic self-determination in this economic world...the rights of a nonhuman they may be attached to superceded this. Gays are just able to get married within the past ten years the GOP were oppressing them still with DOMA etc when homosexuals wanting to settle down into monogamy with children is a huge victory for their moral system but they're too triggered to see this because gays are gross and they're officially allowed to love each other now. Don't get me started in transgendered bathrooms fuck who knew people could have such strong emotions about public bathrooms? Lol. Oh, Mexicans are illegal

Republicans are more freedom promoting than Dems in many ways, speech except religious, guns, taxes, etc, and I appreciate them for it. Both parties have major flaws and I tend to vote outside party interest myself...I'm a 2x Kasich voter and I'm pretty liberal otherwise but he was a good governor.
