because humans and probably pretty much all animals have developed over time to look for signals of whether others are male or female in order to look for mates. its pretty much ingrained into our biology at this point.

except for the few humans who purposely try to fool others.

even the ambiguous ones im sure you could score over 75% by guessing. and those types are 1/1,000 people, and trans are 1/10,000 people. so the general axiom of of calling gender only at a glance remains almost intact.

trying to pass the uncanny valley to convince someone you're a gender swap is 99% unsuccessful

when i was in high school i had long hair. someone once came up behind me and addressed me as 'miss'. i didnt try to get him arrested and ruin his career because he misgendered me. i corrected him, brushed it off and moved on with my life.

Pronouns are based on language not biology. Language isn't biological.
