I feel like socialism does not go against human nature for the most part, the issue is that the people with the most power have the most incentive to pervert or destroy it.

this is the case in pretty much any system, isnt it?

being prone to be corrupted by power and greed is a key part of the human nature, and in capitalist societies, unlike totalitarian ones, the 99% at least have some chance of fighting back.

The examples of socialism you are pointing to are the exact kind of examples someone would point to North Korea about when trying to bash Democratic Republics.

socialism isnt against human nature, its just against the way most of us have been raised, society would have never formed if the first people were actually capitalists. Why make things when you can just steal them 24/7? Why farm when you can just steal food? To the rich socialism is theft, but yet to the poor who produce all the damn goods capitalism is theft. The solution is to get true democracy established something wealthy people don't want because the poor will vote to take their wealth, theres a large fear of the mob mentality as well but if we educated our people to begin with it wouldnt be such a large issue, instead we make advanced degrees near impossible for large sectors of our country to acheive and worry about the people we stopped from becoming educated voting

You can think of society as an asymmetric Nash equilibrium. The cost of defecting is prohibitive, so your average Joe chooses to cooperate because he has no superior option.

Jane's in power, defecting is a net profitable position. She is aware than Joe will cooperate, her default strategy is to defect.

Socialism goes against human nature because society works based on a system of rewards and punishments. Socialism rewards the evil and punishes the honorable.

Capitalism works better even if the system is corrupt. You don't see mass starvation even when corporate monopolies are doing ugly shit. The honorable can still carve a niche within which to live.
