This isn't really national level coverage newsworthy nor is there some great debate to be had over this. Accidents happen all the time. Accidents happen to people who happen to be police officers. Yeah, she should face some repercussions but I think the judge/prosecutor will take into account the mitigating circumstances when it comes to sentencing.

Unfortunately, your blame is misplaced here. The real culprit is the construction company who built apartments with layouts so similar to one another that they could be mistaken.

There's not much blame to go around. It's an unfortunate incident that led to a death. I feel like our culture has become way too reactionary.

I guarantee you things would’ve gone differently if her neighbor wasn’t black.
It also shows overuse of force and an officer abusing their power.
This man would not have been murdered if she was required to keep her weapon somewhere else.

a police officer breaks into an apartment and murders someone? yeah, definitely not national news worthy...

it's absolutely national news worthy as it shows a pattern of police officers way too willing to use deadly force (regardless of what color skin the victim has).

It is if you let it. Hence why thug culture only exists in democrat cities

By which you mean cities.

Where the educated people go to make money.

As opposed to Republican rural areas where everybody speaks in monosyllabic broken English and hardly ever sees a black guy but is terrified of them anyway?

I don't recall implying it wasn't.
I'm just not insecure enough to have to repeatedly state that it is.

involuntary manslaughter

2 years

the victim is not the chick that wobbled into the wrong place loaded(in more than one way) but she shouldn't rot either from what I've seen

You can't guarantee anything. You're a keyboard warrior that knows some elementary details about this case. You can Monday morning quarterback on every little incident and accident that leads to some unfortunate circumstance but that won't change the reality of our world. Accidents happen all the time. Humans are flawed creatures that are inattentive, scared, instinctual, etc. To think we can somehow regulate emotions or some of our most intrinsic qualities is nonsensical.

A person who happens to be a cop mistakenly enters another persons apartment. Thinking it's her own home she discharges her weapon. The pattern is people make mistakes, thank you Captain Obvious.

yeah, murder is just a "mistake"

what if someone did that to one of your family members? would you be so willing to shrug it off as a "mistake"?

I can see it now, ofthevoid: "eh, people make mistakes, unfortunate".

It's not murder. Murder signifies intent. This is at most manslaughter or negligence.

After emotions subsided I like to think that I would be rational enough to realize that this was an accident and calling for her head wouldn't do anything. I think she'll get somewhere between 1-3 years.
