More of a general question for you or if you are familiar with the position: how can we use physical senses and cognition to form ideas about something that is nonhpysical?

Plenty of possible responses, see the paper Consciousness and its Place in Nature by David Chalmers if you're interested. Basically dualists assert that there is some level of interaction between the physical and mental (which is intuitively obvious because our minds change as our brains change... or vice versa... or both). I'm not a dualist, however.

Physiognomy is my favorite science, personally.

I never knew this was an actual discipline, but I came up with the theory that ever since the camera became popular, people construct their own personas based on how they look. Dunno how accurate I am, but it's interesting to think about. The most obvious alternative would be that we just associate people's looks with their personality after the fact.

Just learned the term moralistic therapeutic deism. At first I thought it was silly, but it kind of is America's god.

Nice.

That game definitely put the quote to good use.

Yeah it is funny when a couple scientists really nail something.

I do so love it when an observation I've made turns out to have it's own name already. It reminds me there is a hidden world of other people who actually pay attention.

So you believe you can judge a person's character by their facial features?

I would say that's a "skill" that most people think they possess and are completely wrong, I think it's more a case of people make snap judgements about everyone and that truth becomes etched in the mind because the ability to acknowledge that you were wrong is non existent really.

The God argument.

For example, say we have problem "A." If science cannot figure out how problem "A" works, God is used as a placeholder. If science cannot explain a certain phenomena, God is responsible for it until science comes along and solves the mystery.
