Edit: looking at the list it seems 69 involved confrontations with citizens. ending up at 16:1 using 1100 as # of citizens killed by cops.

The problem is the piss poor reporting of police involved shootings to the collecting authority. There is no one single directive, that can demand all police stations turn the information in seeing how they aren't federally run or over sighted. According to the FBI data base the percentage of civilian deaths could be much higher, they just don't have a way to know for sure. Or at least that was my take on it? I have seem the ratio of 100:1 as well .

Struck by vehicle is accidental. They have a separate stat for "vehicular assault." No, I will not include pursuit. That's a decision made by the officer to engage in dangerous behavior.

Agreed, still seems way off of the 100:1 ratio

I already agreed the 100:1 was overstated. But it's also far from 10:1 too.

...so 25 cops killed by criminals this year, which is 2/3 done, so let's say the rate will amount to 40ish over the year. Now contrast that with the rough 1100 people killed by police a year. Sure, it isn't 100:1, but 27:1 isn't a pretty stat.


1100 people got killed by police last year? wow thats alot. Is there any review board that looks at how many of those were justified?
Im sure if you asked a cop he would say all 1100, but judging at how people can judge wrong, rage quickly, demand 100% obedience because they have a badge and are racially motivated and brainwashed from birth to only see things in B&W- its probably more like 25%.

Good thing you are looking at it from an unbiased perspective. Id hate to see what someone with an anti-police agenda would say.

I'm not anti-police. I'm anti-police violence and anti-legalized special privileges and rights for police.

Police oversight is haphazard and mismashed across the country. Mostly, it doesn't exist.
