no because knowing God makes you want to do good works.  If you feel like you can defile the 10 commandments then you probably don't honestly want to follow jesus

This is something non-believers can't really understand.  Christian's are saved by faith in Jesus Christ, but living an immoral life definitely separates you from God.  It's almost not bearable.  You either lose your faith or you start acting morally.

Good thread.

What you guys said only confirms to me that sin is irrelevant. If you believe and will be saved, then you won't sin by nature and don't need to be told. And if you don't believe, then it doesn't matter whether you sin or not. It seems convincing people not to sin is like convincing people to breathe - they either do it on their own already, or they are dead and you are wasting your time. Wouldn't you think it strange if Moses came down from the mountain with detailed instructions from God on how important breathing is?

google mortal sin, it seems like you lack the information necessary to have this conversation.

the only reason you cant ever repent something and save yourself as a Christian, is because your dead.

its not a mortal sin because it involves mortals or morals, its a mortal sin because you carry it unrepented to the grave.

And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. - Matthew 12:31-32

It's hard to follow God's will if you don't know what it is.

You are talking about following God's will consciously. They are saying it's a deep-seated desire, and not doing so is "unbearable".

Mathew 15:26-28

26 He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”

27 “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”

28 Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.

When confronted face to face with honest repentance, honest faith, there are many a thing he would have forgiven and accepted.

And there is still one thing that is unforgivable.

It becomes unbearable, I would imagine. But you have to learn about it first somewhere; even if it's ingrained in our brains it is still helpful to have it enumerated somewhere.

nope, unless your dead, you can always repent, as long as its honest, though if its not honest then your not really repenting.

So the intelligent design type of mindset.

I don't believe in prayer healing for a number of reasons.
1. Studies show that people who get prayed for end up doing worse than those who do not
2. Way to many instances of churches faking these prayer healings. Ie handicapped people walking and deaf people hearing (the examples you gave..) so i'd look into your chuch if they claim that. Similar to the talking in tongues type of thing with people faking it.
3. If it is real then why don't people who go to those ceremonies get healed of their cancer. Is it because of the people paying, or the people themselves being undeserving? Or better yet why don't the faith healers go to hospitals and heal the sick there? That would prove without a doubt that it's real.

1) show me these studies please.
2) True...True and True.
3) Because it wouldn't prove it. In the Bible there were many who saw the healings and still didn't believe in God. The healings are meant to be personable acts of kindness. Also although we can pray for healings, it is not us doing the healing so honestly we don't bat 100%. We do our best to hear what God says and we do it. If that involves a healing here and there then great.
