This is something non-believers can't really understand.  Christian's are saved by faith in Jesus Christ, but living an immoral life definitely separates you from God.  It's almost not bearable.  You either lose your faith or you start acting morally.

its not a mortal sin because it involves mortals or morals, its a mortal sin because you carry it unrepented to the grave.

When confronted face to face with honest repentance, honest faith, there are many a thing he would have forgiven and accepted.

It becomes unbearable, I would imagine.  But you have to learn about it first somewhere; even if it's ingrained in our brains it is still helpful to have it enumerated somewhere.

I don't believe in prayer healing for a number of reasons.
1. Studies show that people who get prayed for end up doing worse than those who do not
2. Way to many instances of churches faking these prayer healings. Ie handicapped people walking and deaf people hearing (the examples you gave..) so i'd look into your chuch if they claim that. Similar to the talking in tongues type of thing with people faking it.
3. If it is real then why don't people who go to those ceremonies get healed of their cancer. Is it because of the people paying, or the people themselves being undeserving? Or better yet why don't the faith healers go to hospitals and heal the sick there? That would prove without a doubt that it's real.
