Yes, I cried. Having served in the military, I kinda took the attack personally. Watching people leaping to their deaths on live television just does that to people I guess.

Our "interference" in their holy land took place at the request of its government in the face of Iraqi aggression. Were we defiling Mecca? Nope. No outsiders allowed in Mecca. Nah, we were "just there," a fatal sin! I guess.

You are making excuses for the inexcusable.

that was the worst part of all of the footage.

you guys really cried when it happened? i mean im fine with it if you did , but im having a hard time understanding it. When it happened i was pretty much neutral, of course i wasn't happy about it but i can't say i was sad or anything as i din't knew any of the victims.
To me it was no different then a bombing/terrorist act in x country over seas.

Ps: Sorry if some of you guys find this offensive but it  is my view on it.

You saw people jumping out of windows to their deaths on live tv. You could even hear the thumps of their bodies hitting the ground. How anyone can stay "neutral" to that is beyond me.

I'm not making excuses <_< I'm pointing out that calling it "meddling" is a drastic understatement that totally ignores our involvement in the region. If anybody is making excuses it's you calling the gassing of civilians and toppling democracies "meddling" instead of actually acknowledging the damage.

Maybe because 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi nationals.

Nationality is used because tribalism is an even more complex topic. Suffice it to say tribes are smaller than nations, so I use nationality for the sake of expediency.

I see why it would be better than tribalism, but you're implying that because we haven't invaded Saudi Arabia that nobody from that country can be affected by our involvement.

More like the edgy guys who didn't really experience it. I mean, kids born in '01 are 12 right now. A bunch of high schoolers right now probably didn't even notice 9/11 happening. It's not surprising that the youngsters of today don't feel that much for it, they never experienced it.

Also a little ironic that anti-religious people are using religion as a legitimate justification for the attack.

no one here is saying the attacks were justified, we're saying they have their reasons

the point is that they didn't simply attack you because they hate you

it's because of the usa's self serving foreign policy

This.
This this this.
Some more of this.
And this.
And then to try and "get even" for it, we send thousands of more troops to die...
In a strict sense of numbers, we're very much on the losing side of this "war on terror".
And in MANY aspects, our troops are the terrorists. We're constantly bombing and invading other countries, and in doing so we kill military persons and civilians alike.
Which in turn, simply makes us more, and deeper enemies of the people we do this to.

Al Qaeda have such an easy time recruiting in these places we attack, because they show up and help these people rebuild their towns, and put their lives somewhat back together.
Of course the people they help will be willing to join their cause. By STILL being in these countries, we only make the problem worse.

I really don't understand why Santara feels the need to strawman to hell, I mean, its what the guy in his signature has been saying for years....
