Did you miss the part about how the US already has an army? Not only an army, but the most advanced and well funded military in the world.

Not to mention just the threat of the US's use of nuclear weapons should they ever be attacked would be enough to deter almost any rogue country.

Your worldview is incredibly detached from reality.

Reality has been distorted. I'm sorry you've been deceived.

The biggest threat to liberty is our own government. Philosophically speaking, I believe everyone should be required to perform military service in order to vote or run for office.

Ah, the usual tinfoil hat rhetoric of the gun nut makes a reappearance.

Carry on then.

Agrarian self-sustainability is an admirable trait. Your facetious remark does hold wisdom.

I'm pretty sure the reason Israel utilizes conscription is due to the fact that it's neighbors and even a large portion of it's population wish to commit genocide against Jews and wipe Israel off the map.

I am not advocating conscription, though I have toyed with the idea. I am advocating something more in-line with Heinlein, which is to say that I believe that [military] service to the state should be a prerequisite for voting, holding office and/or teaching civics classes. Non-citizens would not be discriminated against in any other way.

Ah yes, the "government does no wrong" mentality. That's a justified assumption. /s

Many of the sensible non-libertarians on this board have plenty of issues with governments. Doesn't mean they want to get rid of it all, or make it smaller.
