It's shitty behavior, and when people act shitty, they should be called out on it. I have no problem with pointing out that this guy was a dick.

Guys, you have a net weight gain when you're pregnant. Even after the birth, you're still going to be fat for a while. :P

The guy was being an idiot, although we may never know his true intentions. The anchor's reasoning is off too, however. While much of obesity is caused by factors beyond our control at this point, and while some kids just have a heavier build, it's still possible to recognize that a diet and lifestyle change is necessary and possible. However, I don't think that bullying is the most effective way to get across this message.
