blacks and women had a very comparable history of limited rights...the fact you consider racism and sexism to be incomparable sounds a bit off. Take into consideration that women have LOOONG been considered inferior to men. In what sense aren't the two comparable? Both did not have basic privileges in America for period of time and now they do. Both have fought to obtain the rights they have today.

While it's a bit of a stretch at times, the document that pretty much started Second Wave Feminism drew that parallel very strongly.

True. I guess where I'm going at is, just because we didn't go around killing and lynching white women doesn't mean that sexism isn't a form of oppression. People sure as hell beat women back in the day and continue to do so today :/
Just as sexism wasn't good for women, racism didn't do black people any good.

The continent of Africa was destroyed because of the slave trade and it has never recovered.

While blacks in America may have it better today than they would if they were still in their native countries, the fact is that they still are not on equal footing.

Slaves had zero capital once they were freed. Compared to other ethnic groups in the U.S., I'm surprised they've made so much progress.
